Selective colouring

Hi guys,

I've just done my first ever video tutorial! It's about selective colouring effect in GIMP (it applies to any photo editor, however). Sorry for my strange voice in the video - I was a bit nervous since it was my debut ;)

Here it is:

Does gimp not have a smart select thingy like photoshop has?

There is scissor select in GIMP which is something like that but I don't know if it's as good as in Photoshop (I don't use it that often to be honest).
