Photomatix Pro Presets - 111 Free HDR Presets

New Photomatix Pro Presets

It's been a while since I shared any Photomatix Pro presets. For that reason today I decided to update my Mega Pack collection to add new presets I created in the last few months. This time collection features 111 free presets!

You can download the presets here:

What's in the bundle?
  • 15 completely new and never released presets, most of which use my new favourite processing method, i.e. Contrast Optimizer,
  • All presets that I shared up to now (96 presets).
Summing up, the collection contains 111 free presets good for landscape, architecture and street HDR photography. There are both very realistic presets and more artistic ones, colourful and black & white - everyone should find something for himself.

Please note that some of the presets will only work in Photomatix Pro 5 or newer as some of them require Fusion/Real-Estate or Contrast Optimizer which were introduced in Photomatix Pro 5.

Note: if you downloaded some of my presets previously you can delete or overwrite them as all of the previous presets are included in this pack.

Here are the instructions, on how to install the presets*:
  1. Download the presets and extract them on your disk.
  2. Start Photomatix Pro 4.2 or newer. If you haven't updated to 4.2 visit HDRsoft homepage and download your upgrade (in case you're eligible to it).
  3. Open any image and tonemap it to go to the tonemapping preview mode.
  4. In the Presets window change tab from "Built-In" to "My Presets".
  5. In the combo-box in the upper part of the Presets window select "Import Presets..." item.
  6. Navigate to the directory where you extracted presets and select all the files you want to import. You might also want to specify category for the imported presets (eg. "Downloaded"). To do this just fill in the text field at the bottom of the Import window.
  7. Accept the selection and wait for the thumbnails to appear. Voila!
* In case of older versions than 4.2 you can follow instructions I posted here.

Daily photo - Golden Sunset

And it's time for a daily HDR photo - it was taken during beautiful golden sunset in Warsaw, Poland. I took as many as 7 exposures here (because by including the sun in the frame dynamic range of that scene became really high).

Autumn Lightroom presets collections

Autumn photo from Tatra Mountains
Above photo, taken in Tatra mountains, was processed using presets from this post.

Today I would like to share with you my new presets collection for Adobe Lightroom - this time presets for post-processing autumn landscape photos. Make the colours of autumn pop!

You can download my autumn presets here.

Also if you like them, I would greatly appreciate your feedback and shares of this post amongst your friends. It will motivate me to create & share even more free presets. Let me know your favourite ones too! And make sure to give links to photos processed with these presets in the comments below - I'd be very happy and interested to see them.

BTW you can find more presets created by me here. They include Adobe Lightroom, Topaz Adjust and Photomatix Pro presets. And they are all free!

To import presets into Adobe Lightroom:
  1. Extract downloaded presets, remembering the location where you did extract the files.
  2. Go to Develop module in Lightroom.
  3. Expand Presets panel (it's on the left side just below Navigator).
  4. Right-click on the folder of your choice (eg. User Presets) and select Import...
  5. Navigate to the location where you extracted presets, select all of them and click on the Open button.
There are 6 categories of presets that are described below but each of the presets comes in a few variations what gives a total of 17 autumn presets!

Lightroom Vintage presets

before after

Today I would like to share a bunch of vintage presets for Lightroom 4 (they are also good for Lightroom 5 beta). You can download them here.

You can see example of one of the presets in action in the photo above. I took this photo in Montpellier old town. The After version was developed using Vintage6 preset which you will find in the ZIP. No additional editing work was required apart from sharpening using High Pass filter.

My presets work best for well-exposed (and slightly over-exposed too) outdoor scenes taken in day light. If the scene is too dark (eg. indoors) it might have magenta cast.

Photomatix Pro presets for night scenes

Royal Palace in Madrid during blue hour

Night scenes are beautiful but at the same time quite challenging for photographers - exposures are long, images have more noise than in daylight, it's often cold. Although I can't make taking photos any easier for you I can at least help you in processing them. So today I'm sharing 7 presets for Photomatix Pro to process night scenes! I used these presets in many of my night photos (including above) like this or this so I hope you will be able to get some great results with them as well.

You can download the presets here. They are both for Details Enhancer and Fusion/Natural processing methods.

For more information on processing and taking HDR photos read my HDR tutorial.

To install the presets*:
  1. Download the presets and extract them on your disk.
  2. Start Photomatix Pro 4.2.

Presets are a very important part of my workflow. In each program I use I have a rich collection of my own settings. No matter it's Photomatix Pro, Lightroom or Photoshop. Using presets has a few advantages for me: I can work much faster (I usually just make small adjustments to them) and also my photos have more consistent look.

Realistic presets for Photomatix Pro

It's been a while since I shared some presets for the last time so today I decided to share two Photomatix Pro presets I use almost exclusively recently and I call them realistic presets. I used them for instance when processing image above which shows one of the churches in La Oliva on Fuerteventura island. Note that these presets require further processing (either using Finishing Touch in Photomatix Pro or in Lightroom/Photoshop) as they purpose is mainly to preserve as much detail as possible. They don't care about colour that much.

Here they are:
To save them just right-click either of them and select "Save target as" (or equivalent).

It's not the first time I share my Photomatix Pro presets. For much more you can view this, this and this post.

To install the presets*:
  1. Download the presets and extract them on your disk.
  2. Start Photomatix Pro 4.2. If you haven't updated to 4.2 visit HDRsoft homepage and download your upgrade (in case you're eligible to it).
  3. Open any image and tonemap it to go to the tonemapping preview mode.
  4. In the Presets window change tab from "Built-In" to "My Presets".

Photomatix Pro presets for lakes

I took this HDR photo from tripod using 7 exposures spaced at 1.5 EV to cover whole dynamic range of this very contrasty scene. To use longer exposures and thus to make water look calmer I used Hoya ND8 neutral density filter.
Today I decided to share Photomatix Pro presets I used during my recent landscape shoot in Masuria, Poland. One of the photos processed with this presets is above. This time there are 4 presets you can download from here.

Even more Photomatix Pro presets!

Note: newest presets from me are available here.

HDR photo taken in the Moorish Castle in Sintra. When I was taking this shot I loved the textures and details in the rocks. Also shadow in the left side of the image looked very nice to me. I used 3 exposures and merged and tonemapped them in Photomatix Pro.

About 1.5 month ago I posted some of my Photomatix Pro presets. Since then it became one of the most popular posts on this blog. So I decided to make the rest of my presets available for download as well. So today I release 70 presets which you can download by clicking here. Note that some of them were released previously but under different names so you might need to remove them to avoid confusion.

To install the presets*:
  1. Download the presets and extract them on your disk.
  2. Start Photomatix Pro 4.2. If you haven't updated to 4.2 visit HDRsoft homepage and download your upgrade (in case you're eligible to it).

Also be sure to check out my HDR tutorial.

Preset ThumbnailsPreset NamePreset Description
